Artist Maritu, who returned home after 23 years of persecution to make her 4 music concerts and videos with sewasew multimedia, took her honorary doctorate degree on June 30, 2016. The artist, who is preparing for a recent concert in Gondar, Bahir dar, Dessie including the city of Addis Ababa, received her honorary award 7 years later on January 12, 2023.
It was revealed at the time that the university awarded the honor to maritu because of her elevated contribution to the art sector. The university’s Cenet artist, who believed that respecting country values was prominent in producing substitutes, decided that not only did the artist deserve her honorary degree, but not just because she introduced Ethiopia to the country and abroad, to dress, culture, and pass on her values to generations.
Maritu, is known by her admirers as the queen of the united nations, the mother of the colonies, the queen of folk music, the president of the University of Macedonia, and Benjamin, the heads of the southern and island city administrations, former colleagues, senators, teachers, administrative staff, and other dignitary bodies. The artist praised her for her honorary degree during the ceremony and said it would also be a strength for her career.
The honor of playing four musical colonies qualified to play has been honored for her more than a half-century of musical life, particularly in the colonies of “ambassel and bati’’. One of her distinctive identities of her is that she wore cultural costumes all year round.
