Early Life

Singer Henok Abebe was born in 1976 E.C. and raised around Ras Mekonen Deldey, Addis Ababa Ethiopia. He attended his primary school life in Dejazmach Belaye Zeleke primary school up to 8th grade and completed his high school journey at Dagemawi Menelik secondary school.
Henok started to sing when he was young to achieve his youthful ambition of living the wildlife of music, which started around his school’s music club. But he didn’t stop there, as he grew older, he expanded his talent into a career that allowed him to become a top-tier Ethiopian star of his generation.

Career in Music

Henok was inspired to sing at a young age by Tilahun Gesesse and Mohammud Ahmed, as well as the remarkable lyrics and writing skills of Neway Debebe and Tewodros Kassahun (Teddy Afro). He enjoyed listening to music and singing well-known songs for pleasure.
He made his first stage debut as a 10th-grade student at a school’s annual celebration. since he had several difficulties while preparing to release his first album ‘Yamerbatale’, it wasn’t simple for Henok to get to where he is now. Despite going through difficult times, he never considered himself to be anything other than a musician.

His first album was made in 1996 with Nahom records. He wrote both the lyrics, and melody by himself, sound composition by Kirubel Tesfaye, and mixing and mastering by Keberet Zekiyos. This enabled him to spend the best time of his career by performing on a stage with the famous artist Sean Paul at the Sheraton Addis Hotel, making it an amazing experience for the singer. He also played in Canada, Toronto, with several international singers.

The secret to his successful career is that he focuses on his job and devotes all his time to bringing innovative ideas as his primary goal was to produce creative and excellent work for his audiences. He developed his skills by learning a lot from other Ethiopian and international musicians as it gave him a great advantage in creating his own sound, with unique lyrics and singing styles.
While the musician is well recognized for his great tunes, Henok Abebe’s interests extend beyond music; he also writes short novels, and poems and is involved in scriptwriting.
